Mr. Christopher "Tye" Thrasher

Mr. Christopher “Tye” Thrasher, beloved son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin, and friend, passed from this life on July 24, 2023 in Fort Walton Beach, Florida. Tye, age 33, of Arab, Alabama (formerly Hartselle, AL) was born February 1, 1990, son of Christopher Thrasher and Crystal Hopkins. Tye worked in construction as a heavy equipment operator. Tye will be greatly missed by all who knew him. His friendliness and easy going, fun-loving and free spirited personality made him special and unique. He was an extremely generous individual. He loved without reserve and gave of himself without hesitation. Tye felt that his son, “Lane,” was the most important thing in his life and always gave him top priority. Tye was an avid outdoorsman and spent lots of time fishing and hunting. He loved animals and brought home all sort of critters, but the critter he loved most was his weenie dog, “Slinky.” Tye was a tremendous fan and supporter of Alabama Football and felt that nothing was any better than a home cooked meal. Tye is survived by his son, Christopher “Lane” Thrasher; father, Chris Thrasher (Shawna); mother, Crystal Hopkins (Andy); brothers, July Herring, Trè Reed, Matthew Evans and Cade Hopkins (Abi); sisters, D’Anna Coker (Raleigh Dutton) and Amber Hopkins; grand-parents, Gene Thrasher (Fay); step grand-parents Jim Stables (Cindy); step grand-mother, Lee Stables; several aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, Lane’s mom (Emily Tapscott); and many, many friends. Services for Mr. Thrasher will be held at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel on Saturday, August 12, 2023. Visitation will be between the hours of 11:00 a.m. and 2:00 p.m. The funeral service will immediately follow beginning at 2:00 p.m. Brother Joey Staton and Brother Joe Garrett will be officiating. Interment will be in the New Salem Cemetery in the Center Grove community of Morgan County, Alabama. Pallbearers escorting Mr. Thrasher to his final resting place will be July Herring, Trè Reed, Lane Thrasher, Joshua Peppers, Tucker Montgomery, and Jake Leeth. Serving as Honorary pallbearers will be Timothy Stover, Edward Leeth and Jesse Key. In lieu of flowers please make donations to Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel to help with funeral expenses.
