Ed Wayne Jones

Ed Wayne Jones, age 80, of Arab, Alabama passed away at his residence on Sunday morning, July 27, 2025. Born in Winston County, Alabama July 18, 1945 Ed was a beloved son of Barney Elford Jones and Maudeen Swindle Jones. Ed shared over 26 years of marriage with his devoted wife, Rebecca Jane Cooley Jones. Throughout his life, he worked in the construction industry, earning a reputation for his unwavering work ethic and skill, especially as an accomplished driver of heavy-duty dump trucks. Ed was a dedicated and faithful member of New Canaan Baptist Church and found joy in the simple pleasures of life—working in his yard (of which he took great pride), sharing laughter and stories with his beloved grandchildren and enjoying peaceful and relaxing moments on the front porch. He enjoyed Alabama football, NASCAR road racing, the Grit TV channel, and most all sports channels. Surviving family members include: wife, Becky Jones; daughters Cindi Black (Mark), Sonya Caswell (son-in-law James), Nikki Schrader (Danny); son, Jeff Jones (daughter-in-law Jamie); grandchildren, Hunter and Emma Black, Houston and Jacquelyn Black, Hannah and Kirk Maddox, Logan and Marlena Caswell, Madison Caswell, Taylor, Grayson and Ayda Jones, Nathan, Alex and Zach Schrader; great grandchildren, Fisher and Ada Jo Black, Everlynn Black, Gavin, Landon and Hudson Caswell, Presley and Palmer Dendy; brother, Marvin Jones; sisters, Marie Albright, Agnes Smith (Kenneth); brother-in-law, Tony Cooley (Mary). Ed is preceded in death by his parents, Barney and Maudeen S. Jones and brother, Charles Jones. Services for Ed will include a visitation on the evening of Tuesday, July 29, 2025 from 6:00 until 8:00pm. Ed will lie in state from 10:00 until 11:00am on Wednesday morning at New Canaan Baptist Church. The funeral service will begin at 11:00 with Brother Kenneth Smith and Brother Quinton Claborn officiating. Serving as pallbearers and escorting Ed to his final resting place in New Canaan Cemetery will be Hunter Black, Houston Black, Kirk Maddox, Logan Caswell, Taylor Jones and Zach Schrader. Serving as Honorary pallbearers are Grayson Jones and Alex Schraeder. Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel entrusted with arrangements.
