Jack Ernest Berry

Jack Ernest Berry, age 83, of the Union Hill community of Somerville, Alabama passed away Sunday, May 25, 2025 at Huntsville Hospital. Jack was born in Marshall County, AL on July 16, 1941, one of four children born to Clarence Anderson Berry and Ivy Lee Bryant Berry. Jack was a high school graduate and had earned his bachelor’s degree. He was of the Baptist faith. Jack was a man of remarkable achievements, dedication, and passion. His service to his country was nothing short of extraordinary, marked by four tours in Vietnam as part of the United States Air Force, where he retired with 22 years of honorable service. Following his military career, Jack contributed his expertise as a financial officer and bookkeeper at Redstone Arsenal, retiring after 25 years of dedicated work. Jack's entrepreneurial spirit shone through as the proud owner of Jack and Michael Transport, Inc., a trucking business that stands as a testament to his industrious nature and leadership abilities. Outside of his professional endeavors, Jack was a man of many interests and talents. He found joy in riding horses, crafting furniture, deep-sea fishing, boating, and camping, activities that reflected his love for adventure and craftsmanship. A respected member of the American Legion Post 237 in Huntsville, Jack was deeply committed to his community and the camaraderie of fellow veterans. His life was one of service, passion, and unwavering dedication to his family, his faith, and his interests. To those who knew him, Jack will forever be remembered as a man of integrity, kindness, and boundless energy for life. Jack is survived by his sons, Vince R. Berry and Michael R. Berry (Lynn); daughters, Amanda Louise Bolling (Steven) and Deborah Ann Berry-Melton (Anthony); grandchildren, Derek Anthony Berry, Trevor Allen Berry, Kayla Ann Melton Mize (Jeff), Amanda Renee Melton, Joshua Blayne Whitside and Cody Parker; great granddaughter, Grace Ann Liepert. Family preceding Jack in death include his parents, Clarence and Ivy Lee Berry; his siblings, J.C Berry, Ed Berry and Aline Dodd. Services for Jack will be Friday, May 30, 2025 at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel. The family will receive friends and guests from 12:00 noon until the funeral service begins at 2:00pm. Brother Brandon Berry will be officiating. Escorting Jack to his final resting place in Brashiers Chapel Cemetery will be Anthony Wade Melton, Dustin Liepert, Keith Clemons, Cody Parker, Michael R Berry, Vince R. Berry and Larry Bonner. Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel entrusted with arrangements.
