James "Jim" Baszczynski

James Baszczynski “Jim” was born to parents, Alexander Baszczynski and Lottie Palaszewski in Buffalo, New York on January 17, 1951. He died peacefully July 10, 2024 on a beautiful, clear, starry night in the comfort of his home, surrounded by prayer, music, his son, daughter, and loving family. A retired Army Veteran of 20 years, Jim served in the military as a psychiatric and drug/alcohol counselor. Following his military retirement, Jim later continued his counseling service at Attica and Wyoming Prisons in upstate New York. Jim had an appreciation for all sports. A fan of the Atlanta Braves, San Francisco 49ers and Buffalo Bills. He enjoyed watching his favorite teams while sipping a cold beer and bantering with friends / family about the game. Jim became an instant father when he fell in love and married his best friend, Linda. Jim and Linda were great parents. Raising two children together they bestowed upon their children the gifts of respect, integrity, hard work ethic, and the privilege of honor and duty amongst family. Following the death of his wife, Linda, Jim moved to Arab, Alabama to be closer to his son, “Hawkeye” and grandchildren. Jim will be treasured in the hearts of many that he touched with his warm friendly personality, wit, gentle green/ blue eyes, and quick smile. Preceded in death by his loving parents, Alexander Baszczynski and Lottie Palaszewski, and wife, Linda Irene Dunsmore-Baszczynski. Our loving father, and grandpa is survived by his daughter, Leora Sanchez, son, Charles “Hawkeye” Haseltine, daughter in law, Cassandra Haseltine, grandchildren, Dakota Ann Lewis-Pacay, Roland James Sanchez, Lauren Alexandria Sanchez, Robert and Laura Parker, Jared Parker, Bradley and Destiny Parker and 3 great grandchildren, Isaiah Daniel Lewis, Maddison Grace Lewis and Briella Parker. Cousin Christal Swope. Per Jim’s wishes a service will not be held. His ashes, along with Linda’s ashes, will be scattered amongst their favorite places across the country. A family BBQ and remembrance dinner will be held at a later date.
