In Loving Memory of Brother Jimmy M. Flynn June 7, 1938 – June 12, 2025 Brother Jimmy Melven Flynn, age 87, passed away on Thursday, June 12, 2025, in Jonesboro, Arkansas, at St. Bernard Medical Center. Born in Lake City, Arkansas, to his loving parents R.B. Flynn and Malinda Elizabeth Stout, Brother Jimmy lived a life devoted to service, community, and deep faith. Jimmy served as a dedicated school bus driver for the Marshall County School System, faithfully transporting generations of children with care and commitment. Even more notably, he was a passionate minister who served multiple congregations throughout his life, including Mt. Tabor Church, Calvary Heights Church, Spring Harbor Church, Beech Springs Church, North West Baptist Church, and Valhermoso Springs Church. His sermons were known for their sincerity, wisdom, and power to inspire. Jimmy was a “shade tree” mechanic who loved gospel singing, fishing, and spending time with his friends at the “Good Old Boys” table at Jack’s in Arab. He often dined at Ron’s Catfish in Jonesboro and could always be found wearing his iconic suspenders and belt combo. Known for his endless repertoire of jokes and humorous stories, Jimmy brought joy and harmony to those around him. His ability to make others laugh was a true gift, and he used it often. Brother Jimmy will be remembered for his unwavering devotion to God, his family, and his community. His legacy of kindness, service, and faithfulness will live on in the lives of those he touched. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Willie Carolyn Thrower Flynn; his parents, R.B. and Malinda Flynn; grandsons, Andrew Marion and Matthew Pickett; brothers, Harold Flynn, Richard Flynn, and Floyd E. Flynn; and his sister, Dorothy White. Jimmy is survived by his loving children: Daughters – Carol June Flynn and Mary Jane Flynn Latham (Steve) Sons – Johnny Flynn and Felton Flynn (Brandi) His legacy continues through his cherished grandchildren: Heath Pickett, Alisha Pickett (Lamont), Chelnessa Minor Kochler (Dominic), Alison Latimer (Francisco), Natalie McElroy (Cody), Joel Castro (Hannah), Danielle Phillips (Victor), Zack Flynn (Leah), Emmalie Weaver, and Wesley Burkett. Great-grandchildren: Zora Pickett, Kaylie Pickett, Draven Walker, Andrew Latimer, Trinity Latimer, Miley Flynn, Madelyn Flynn, Maddox Flynn, Mason Flynn, Lydia Phillips, Lahna Phillips, Cooper Thacker, Noah Thacker, Riley Weaver, and Addison Weaver Great-great-grandchild: Harper Dyson Also surviving are his sisters, Shirley Guiltner and Linda Bohn (Phil), along with his beloved friend, Martha Carter. Service Details A visitation will be held on Saturday, June 21, 2025, beginning at 11:00 a.m. at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel. Funeral services will follow at 1:00 p.m., officiated by Brothers Larry Conley and Glenn Stewart. Jimmy will be laid to rest beside his wife at Sweet Home Cemetery. Pallbearers: Charles Whisenant, Jamie Glass, Heath Pickett, Zack Flynn, Francisco Latimer, and Phil Bohn. Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel entrusted with arrangements.
