Mr. Nickerson "Nick" Murray Kellum Jr.

Nickerson “Nick” Murray Kellum, Jr., age 64, passed peacefully on October 4, 2024 at Shepherd’s Cove Hospice in Albertville, Alabama. Nick was born in Jasper, AL on June 6, 1960, son of Nickerson Murray Kellum, Sr. and Betty Ann Reed Kellum. He graduated from Cordova High School in 1978 and continued his education at the University of Alabama where he graduated in 1983 after earning a degree in electrical engineering. He then pursued a very successful career with the government and Department of Army for 39 1/2 years achieving the coveted civilian service award of meritorious service. In his younger years Nick was a Boy Scout and had acquired the rank of Eagle Scout. This background inspired him and created his interest in community service. He strived for and achieved his lifelong goal of becoming a free mason and was a longtime and current member of the Union Grove Masonic Lodge #320 F&AM. He was a wise, intelligent and Godly man who tried his best to live in Jesus’ footsteps and touched every person he came in contact with. He is survived by his mother, Betty Kellum; wife, Belette Kellum; daughter, Breanna Kellum along with brothers, James Kellum and his spouse Cindy Kellum; Jason Kellum and his spouse Elizabeth Kellum; along with many nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his father Nickerson Murray Kellum, Sr. Services for Nick will be at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel, 1340 North Main Street, Arab, Alabama on Thursday, October 10, 2024. Family members will receive friends and guest for a visitation beginning at 12:00 noon until the funeral service begins at 2:00 p.m. Reverend Chris Herbert will be officiating. Masonic Rites will be rendered at the gravesite. Escorting Nick to his final resting place in Union Grove First Baptist Church Cemetery in Union Grove, Alabama (Marshall County) will be Ty Smith, Jason Kellum, Cody Yarbrough, Stacy Yarbrough, Louis Owens, Ray Parkerson, Neal Bolding, Leslie Miller and Larry “Sam” Gregory. Serving as Honorary Pallbearers are Aaron Kellum, James Kellum, and Andrew Kellum.
