Ms. Ruth Hill

It is with great sadness we announce the death of Mrs. Ruth Hill. Ruth passed away peacefully and surrounded by family at her residence in Lacey’s Spring, Alabama, on October 29, 2024. She was born in Lacey’s Spring, AL, on February 8, 1937. Her parents were James Daniel Walling and Leona White Walling. Ruth was married to James Robert Hill, who preceded her in death (January 20, 2007). She was a homemaker and made a loving home for her family. Ruth was an active member of Calvary Holiness Church in Lacey’s Spring. Ruth was the heart of her family, hosting holiday dinners and family gatherings. She was known for homemade pinto beans, cornbread, banana pudding, and peanut butter cake. Her hugs were the best; she didn’t let go right away. Ruth had a variety of interests, with family and church being primary. She enjoyed loafering at yard sales and auctions, attending events at the Saddle Club, and visiting Wal-Mart. She and her brother often visited area cemeteries, wandering for hours, reminiscing and wondering about people and their histories. Ruth leaves behind a cherished family including her sons, James Daniel “Randall” Hill (Dorinda) and James Robert Hill, Jr.; daughters, Diane Daugette (Troy) and Carolyn Lawrence (David); brother, Clifford Walling; 22 grandchildren; 47 great-grandchildren; and several great-great grandchildren. Preceding Ruth in death are family members including her husband, James Hill, Sr.; parents, James and Leona Walling; sons, Ron Hill, Don Hill, Vann Hill and Terry Hill; brothers, Fred Walling, James Walling, and Charlie Walling; sisters, Helen, Dorothy, Marvelene, Inez, Mary and Gracie. Services for Ruth will be at Calvary Holiness Church in Lacey’s Spring, Alabama. The family will receive friends and guests at a visitation on Wednesday, October 30, 2024 beginning at 5:00 p.m. The funeral service will be Thursday, October 31, 2024 at 2:00 p.m. Brother Corey Morrow and Brother Michael O’Neal will officiate. Pallbearers escorting Ruth to her final resting place at Valhermoso Springs Holiness Church Cemetery will be Matt Daugette, August Hill, Jacob Hill, Scotty Hill, D.J. Hill and Terry Hill. Honor pallbearers include Brandon Madewell and Adam Mefford. Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel is entrusted with arrangements.
