Shirley Jean Briscoe

Shirley Jean Briscoe, age 84, of Ryan Crossroads/Hulaco community passed away peacefully on 11/27/2023 at Cullman Regional Medical Center. She was born September 30, 1939 to loving parents, Margaret Marshall Latham and Arnet Junior Latham. She graduated from Ryan High School in 1957. She married H.M. Briscoe on October 9, 1959 and started a family which blossomed into the most beautiful career anyone could ask for. She was a woman that developed an ear for listening, had a shoulder to lean on and developed a loving, safe and secure home. She was mother, grandmother, great grandmother but even more than that: she was either Nana or Maw Maw Shirley to so many others. She was an excellent role model for us all displaying honesty, strength, and love to all in her life. She was a woman of gravity and offered a safe place to all in her orbit. Shirley was matriarch of a fairly large family. Family members left behind to cherish their precious memories include: children, Stan (Kimberly) Briscoe, Chuck (Tamey) Briscoe, Sonja (Doug) Manous, Kelly (Jeremy) Hays; sister, Harriett (Buddy) Ruther; brother-in-law, Tom Little; grandchildren, Patrick (Cyndi) Briscoe, Morgan Briscoe, Chad (Shannon) Kelsoe, Tyler (Spencer) Kelsoe, Ashley (Michael) Shirley, Latosha (Cody) Underwood, Tristan Ziannis, Hannah Belcher, Kannon Johnston, Kyle (Lauren) Johnston, Kamey Bracknell, Jay LaGrone, Mason Hays, and Cidney Hays; 21great-grands and a host of loving nephews and nieces along with extended family and many friends. Preceding Shirley in death include her parents, Margaret and Arnet Latham; husband, H.M. Briscoe; sister, Connie Little; nephew, Arnet Jay Little; grandsons, Derrick Briscoe and Nick Pinkard. Services for Ms. Briscoe will be Friday, December 1, 2023 at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel. Visitation will be from 12:00 until 2:00 pm. The funeral service will immediately follow at 2:00 pm. Brother Terry Hudson will deliver the message and Patrick Briscoe will deliver the eulogy. Pallbearers escorting her to her final resting place in Ryan Baptist Church Cemetery will be: Patrick Briscoe, Tyler Kelsoe, Jay LaGrone, Michael Shirley, Cody Underwood, Keith Rutherford, Scott Rutherford and PeeWee Mooney. Honorary pallbearers are: Gary Ryan, Terry Ryan, Jeff Ryan and Ken Burcham.
