Sylvia Anne Lang

Mrs. Sylvia Anne Lang, age 75, a dedicated and compassionate wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, sister and caregiver, passed away on Thursday, October 12, 2023 at Marshall Medical Center North. Sylvia was born January 19, 1948, in El Paso, Texas, daughter of Charles Nations and Edna Bernice Cheek Nations. At the age of sixteen Sylvia earned her cosmetology license from the Beauty School in El Paso. She furthered her education by earning an associate degree from the University of Texas El Paso. She moved to the Arab area from Oklahoma and soon met her future husband, Rickie Lang. The two of them settled into the community, shared their lives and created a family of which Sylvia was extremely proud. She was an active and faithful member of Joppa Methodist Church where she taught Sunday School classes. She was also a self employed caregiver and was faithful, dedicated and truly loved her patients. Family was an extremely important part of Sylvia’s life. Her leisure time activities included cooking, baking, traveling, bowling and motorcycle riding. Sylvia leaves behind family members to cherish their precious memories. These include: husband, James Rickie Lang; son, Christopher Wilson, daughter and son-in-law, Lindsey and Kevin Walker; grandchildren, Cody Allen Wilson, Kyle Alexander Wilson (Samantha), Kailopea Anne Wilson, T. J. Turney and Logan Walker; two great grandchildren; brother, Charles H. Nations, Jr. (Beverly); and sister, Jeannie Anderson (Larry). Sylvia’s parents, Charles and Edna Nations, preceded her in death. A visitation and services to honor the memory of Sylvia will be at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel in Arab, Alabama on Monday, October 16, 2023. The funeral service will begin at 2:00 p.m. Family and friends will gather for the visitation beginning at 12:00 noon and will continue until the service begins at 2:00. Brother Randy L. Blakely, Brother Billy Vaughn and Brother Kenneth Putnam will be officiating. Pallbearers escorting Sylvia to her final resting place in the Ridgway Cemetery (Hester Road, Guntersville, AL) will be Christopher Wilson, T.J. Turney, Logan Walker, Kevin Walker, Taylor Blakely, Hunter Blakely, Billy Miller and Charlie Blackmon. Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel, directing
