Tempie Martin

Tempie Darlene Jones Harbin Martin, 88, a resident of Golden Living, Arab died Tuesday, January 5, 2016 in Marshall Medical Center North. Mrs. Martin was born June 8, 1927 in Marshall County, the daughter of William G. “Gus” and Edna Isbell Jones. She was raised and attended school in the Union Grove Community where her father owned a blacksmith shop. She later graduated from Arab High School, Class of 1945. In high school, she met her future husband, Kenneth Felton Harbin; he had transferred from Grassy Junior High School to Arab High School. Tempie and Felton were married June 30, 1945 at the home of Squire Marsh in Arab. A swift form of colon cancer ended Felton’s too brief life March 20, 1976. After his death, Tempie married Marlin Paul Martin on February 27, 1981; they retired and lived in the Friendship Community for some time. Besides her 1st husband, Felton Harbin and her 2nd husband, Marlin Martin she was also preceded in death by a son, Donnie, Danny’s twin. She is survived by her children, Danny Kenneth Harbin (Diane), Donna Jean Harbin Heatherly (Garwin Betterton), Annette Harbin Smith (Mickle), Joel Keith Harbin and Christopher Lynn Harbin (Barbara); 12 Grandchildren: Cassandra Gabrielle Harbin Terry (Danny), Melissa Danielle Harbin Maze Johnson (Thomas), Kipp William Heatherly, Erin Brooke Heatherly, April Leane Smith Ellen (Todd), Andrea Michaela Smith Lamons (Travis), Brandy Telia Smith Williams (Matt), Brian Keith Garmon, Ashley Rena Harbin, Amber Nicole Harbin, Kendra Nicole Harbin Edmondson (Jeremy), Keisha Lauren Harbin; 11 Great Grandchildren: Samuel Patrick Maze, David Andrew Maze, Theda Claire Heatherly, Destiny Smith, Michael Hammonds, Dakota Lamons, Jade Lamons, Jonathon Lamons, Kelsey Edmondson, Karter Edmondson and Dalis Jackson and a Brother: Joel Jones (Peggy). Funeral service will be 2:00 p.m. Friday, January 8, 2016 at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel, Brother James Dudley, officiating and eulogy by Brother Tony Cox. Burial will be in Edgewood Cemetery, Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel, directing. Pallbearers will be Jeremy Edmondson, Todd Ellen, Brian Garmon, Michael Hammond, Kipp Heatherly and Matt Williams Visitation will be 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, January 7, 2016 at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel.
