Tommy Ralph Prestridge

Tommy Ralph Prestridge, 82, of Arab, passed away on Friday, January 9, 2026. He was a graduate of Arab High School and earned a degree in Business Administration from Faulkner University. Tommy was a devoted husband, father, grandfather, and friend whose life was defined by service, dedication, and a deep love for his family, friends and community. Tommy proudly served a total of 27 years with the Arab Fire Department, first as a firefighter and then 22 of those years as Chief, a role he carried out with integrity, leadership, and unwavering commitment to protecting others. He was proud of the new Arab Fire Station which was completed 5 years before he retired. One cause dear to him was working with Carol Maze to provide food and toys for numerous families at Christmas. Tommy’s service extended beyond his hometown through his many years in the Alabama National Guard, honorably serving his state and country. A true outdoorsman at heart, Tommy found joy in hunting and fishing and cherished time spent outdoors. He was a passionate fan of Alabama football and loved the Crimson Tide. He especially enjoyed gathering with friends, sharing stories, and playing cards—moments filled with laughter, friendship, and lasting memories. Above all, Tommy was a family man and was always excited to spend time with his loved ones. He is survived by his loving wife, Dianne Prince Prestridge, his sons Brandon (Kim) and Brian, and his grandchildren, Adlee and Aubrey Prestridge, who brought him immense pride and happiness. He is also survived by his mother, Bernice Prestridge, his sister, Beverlee Deathridge of Hendersonville, TN, along with several nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Thomas F. Prestridge. Tommy will be remembered for his strength, kindness, and dedication to those he loved and served. His legacy lives on in the family he cherished, the community he protected and the many lives he touched throughout his years of service. Services for Tommy will be Thursday, January 15, 2026 at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel in Arab. Family, friends and guests will gather for a visitation between the hours of 11:00am and 2:00pm to honor, acknowledge and pay tribute to Tommy. The funeral service will follow at 2:00pm with Reverend Randy Evers officiating and Charlie Deathridge presenting the eulogy. Interment will be in Arab Memorial Cemetery. Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel is honored to assist with arrangements.
