Marvin Cecil Beasley, 89, of Arab, died in his home on Thursday January 20, 2022. Mr. Beasley was born August 6, 1932 to Leo and Lola Cox Beasley, in Alabama City, Etowah County, Alabama. Mr. Beasley was preceded in death by his wife of 65 years and 2 months, Dorothy Pinson Beasley. Mr. Beasley is survived by three daughters and sons in law, Teresa and Grady Hester, Linda and Russell Gregory and Sandy and Mark McDonald. Over a period of several years, he and his wife were loving foster parents to over 30 children, in particular Jeanie Anderson and Ann Bolding. Mr. Beasley graduated from Emma Sansom High School in Alabama City, AL. Attended Gadsden Technical College and Louisiana Technical College. Mr. Beasley worked as a Computer Specialist and retired from the federal government in January 1995. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving in the US Air Force from 1951 to 1955. Mr. Beasley served as a Deacon and Deacon Emeritus at Gilliam Springs Baptist Church, where was a long-time member. He is survived by grandchildren Paige and Evan Gossett, Amber Greenhaw, Scott and Angie Hester, Brittany Reid, Jacob and Abigail McDonald, Rachel and Drew Davis. Great-grandchildren Madison, Sarah, Jordan, Brianna, Elijah, Henry, Gretta, Grayson, Jaxon, Hailey, Louie, Adalyn, Alyssa, Bethany and Baby Davis (on the way.) Mr. Beasley was preceded in death by his wife, his parents, his brother, his sisters, son in law, Jim Travis and grandson in law, Chris Reid. Visitation will be held at Arab Heritage Funeral home on Sunday January 23rd from 5:00pm to 8:00pm. Funeral services will be at Gilliam Springs Baptist Church on Monday January 24th with visitation from 1:00pm to 2:00pm and service following at 2:00pm., with Bro. Jamey Pruett and Bro. Max Roden, Officiating. Pallbearers will be Jacob McDonald, Scott Hester, Matthew Whisenant, Drew Davis, Nic Knighten and Will Harbison. Honorary pallbearers are Elijah Travis, Jaxon Reid, Grayson Whisenant, Evan Gossett, Jordan Enlow, Henry Hester, Louie Hester, Harold McDonald, Bob Mercer and the deacons of Gilliam Springs Baptist Church.
