Carolyn Moon Ashby

With deep sadness we announce the death of our beloved sister, aunt and friend, Carolyn Moon Ashby. Carolyn passed away Wednesday evening, April 23, 2025 at her sister’s home in Harvest, Alabama. Carolyn was born in Madison County, Alabama on April 18, 1944. She passed just five days after her 81st birthday. She was one of nine children born to Monroe Moon and Louise Honea Moon. Carolyn was married to Wayne Ashby who preceded her in death (DOD 11/4/2009). She had lived in the Morgan City community of Lacey’s Spring, Alabama for over 25 years. She was an active member of Brindlee Mountain Baptist Church. She loved singing with the choir and taught the Ladies Sunday School Class. Carolyn loved her Lord and spent many hours reading her Bible and studying the word. She was also a lover of nature and loved to birdwatch and work with her flowers. Carolyn had worked hard to earn her credentials as a Licensed Practical Nurse and used those learned skills, natural talent, common sense and empathy to work with patients in nursing homes. Family members remaining to cherish their memories of Carolyn include: brothers, Ted M. Moon (Nancy), Danny R. Moon (Rebecca) and Ricky M. Moon (Sheila); sisters, Marlene Waller and Sandra Johnson (Terry); and a host of nieces and nephews. She is preceded in death by her parents, Monroe and Louise Moon; husband, Wayne Ashby; brother, Reedus Moon; and sisters, Dorothy Byrd and Daisy York. Carolyn’s funeral service will be 1:00 pm at Brindlee Mountain Baptist Church in Morgan City on Saturday, April 26, 2025. Family, friends and guests will gather for a visitation two hours prior to the funeral service, beginning at 11:00am. Brother Mylon Metcalf will officiate the service. Escorting Carolyn to her final resting place in Taylor Cemetery in New Market, Madison, AL will be Justin Sharp, Rhett Varnado, Jody Moon, Bradley Moon, Mike Prince and Darrell Reid. Serving as honorary pallbearers are Jerry Whisenant, Larry Walker, Donald Butler and Gene Bishop. Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel entrusted with arrangements.
