Linda Sue Hyatt

Mrs. Linda Sue Barbee Hyatt, Morgan County, Alabama passed away at Shepherds Cove Hospice in the late afternoon of Wednesday, January 7, 2026. Linda was born in Blount, County, AL on January 14, 1949 and was just seven short days away from her 77th birthday. Linda was a former resident of both Gum Pond and Ryan Communities. She was the daughter of Robert Barbee and Ophelia Lebraska Smith Barbee. Linda’s husband, Douglas Wayne Hyatt, passed away November 2017. Until the business closed, Linda had been employed by Burden Dairy Farm as part of the agriculture industry; and she was a member of Grandiflora Church of Christ. Linda had a passion for gardening, flowers, and butterflies. She found joy in cooking, often using vegetables from her own garden to prepare delicious meals. She was known for preserving and canning the plentiful harvest she grew each year. Linda enjoyed spending time in the kitchen baking goodies with her granddaughters, Misty and Katie; as well as sitting outside on the porch watching all the grandchildren run, play and have fun. Those kids laughter was her greatest treasure. Mrs. Hyatt also loved to travel to North Carolina with her niece Paula and sister Faye where they would visit and spend time with their sister Marylou and other family. Linda loved her family and friends. “Momma is going to be missed terribly. She was one of a kind and one in a million for sure.” Linda is survived by her son, Charles D. Hyatt (Melissa); daughters, Tracey Lemmond and Tonya Bottomlee (David); brothers, Jerry Barebee (Nell) and Terry Barbee (Karen); sisters, Faye Hyatt and Marylou Plemons; twelve grandchildren; and twenty-one great grandchildren. She is preceded in death by her husband, Douglas Hyatt; parents, Robert and Ophelia Barbee; daughter, Sarah Jeffreys; brothers, Charles Barbee, William Barbee and Dewey Barbee; and great grandson, Phalon L. Russ. She was also preceded in death by her fur baby and constant companion, Rocky. Funeral services for Linda will be held on Monday, January 12, 2026, at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel. Visitation will begin at 12:00 noon, followed by a funeral service at 2:00 PM, officiated by Brother Tommy Earwood. Burial will take place at Hebron Church of Christ Cemetery in Joppa, AL. Serving as pallbearers are Charlie Hyatt, Colten Bottomlee, KT Glaze, Jamie Peden, Jeff Albrightr and Jeff Carter. Honorary pallbearers are David Bottomlee, Dwight Sterling, Blaine Carter, Dakota Abernathy and Austin Gaines. In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Shepherd’s Cove Hospice. Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel is assisting with arrangements.
