Mrs. Margaret Ann Cox Ridgway

Margaret Ann Ridgway, age 77, of Arab, Alabama passed away suddenly on Monday, April 8, 2024. Margaret was born in Marshall County, AL on July 24, 1946. Her parents were Robert Manley Cox and Pearl Marie Marsh Cox. She was a lifelong resident of the Arab community, homemaker and a member of the Union Hill FCM Church. Margaret married Billy Wayne Ridgway over 57 years ago, December 24, 1966. Margaret was one of those rare individuals God gave the “Gift of Gab.” She had the unique ability to speak easily and confidently. She was never at a loss of words and her ability to flow from one topic to another was remarkable. She also enjoyed ancestry for her family and everyone else’s family. Margaret was also a natural born caregiver. She proudly accepted the role and supported and cared for her mother, both brothers, and sister in law during their illness and deaths. She also took great pride in keeping her grandchildren while their parents were at work. She was presently caring for her husband. She loved cooking, enjoyed her garden, flowers, and refused to let anyone kill the wild turkeys and deer in the back field. She enjoyed drawing and was a wonderful artist. Several years ago she decided she wanted to learn piano. She took lessons and got pretty good at it. She loved loved loved her granddaughters, Cynthia and Liza, and was always interested in what was going on in their lives. Margaret and her daughter, Melanie, talked on the phone most every night. Margaret always asked about Travis, Cynthia, Liza and all the cats and dogs. Margaret is survived by her loving family. Those members include her husband, Billy Wayne Ridgway; daughter and son in law, Melanie and Travis Davison; grandchildren, Cynthia Cheyenne Davison and Liza Ann Davison; sister and brother in law, Betty and Lloyd Sartin; nephews, Steven and Mark Sartin; and niece, Mary Melanie King. Family preceding Margaret in death include her parents, Robert and Pearl Cox; brothers, Bobby Cox and Vandy Cox; and infant sister, Mary Wanda Cox. The family will receive extended family and friends at a visitation at Arab Heritage Memorial Chapel on Friday, April 12, 2024 between 12:00 noon and 2:00p.m. The funeral service will immediately follow the visitation beginning at 2:00 p.m. Officiating the service will be Brother Randy L. Blakely. Escorting Margaret to her final resting place in Arab Memorial Cemetery will be Travis Davison, Kenny Davison, Ryan Clark, Jacob Black, Steve Sartin, Mark Sartin and Seth Darnell.
